The University of Iowa invites all interested community members – parents, educators, healthcare providers, government officials, employers, students, faculty, staff to attend a series of educational events designed to increase awareness of e-cigarettes and their impact, provide information about cutting edge research on e-cigs and vaping from national experts, and encourage dialogue to promote community health.
Tom Eissenberg, PhD, a professor at the Virginia Commonwealth University and co-director of the Center for Study of Tobacco Products, will share his research on e-cigs and vaping. Then, he will be part of a panel that includes Rima Afifi, PhD, a UI researcher, Susan Vileta of the Johnson County Public Health Department, and an UI student TBN. The panel will share perspectives on e-cigs usage in our community and schools.
The first community event is September 23 from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at The Englert Theatre.
There is no cost to attend and everyone is welcome. However, the planning committee would appreciate having attendees register here.
